I have waited almost a year to see an article like this one printed in the Anchorage Daily News. Ever since Obama threw the weight of George Soros’ money behind his effort to malign, discredit, and bankrupt Governor Sarah Palin, Obama’s only real threat to the job he wanted so badly. Now that he has it, or at least thinks he has it, he’s spending so much time golfing, playing tennis and using taxpayer dollars to play BMOC (Big Man On Campus) he isn’t in his office long enough to read his email.
Obama set the Mythbusters after her. That didn’t work.
He twisted the minds of the Alaska bloggers Jeanne Devon (AKMuckraker), Linda Kellen Biegel (Celtic Diva), Jessie Griffen (Gryphen), Shannyn Moore (Just a Girl From Homer), Phil Munger (Progressive Alaska) and others and encouraged them (whether personally or not) to say anything and everything they wanted to about Sarah Palin with only one restriction – it must be negative. That didn’t work.
Obama doesn’t give up easily. He rallied the Alaska troops (Hollis French, Tony Knowles, Kim Elton, Eric Croft, Steve Branchflower, Andrew Halcro, Pete Rouse, and Beth Kerttula among others) and Troopergate was born. And died.
Ethics charges – let’s try ethics charges. Andree McLeod leads the way in the number of charges filed against Governor Palin under the very law that the governor had worked so hard to see passed to provide a way to punish unethical Alaska elected officials. Linda Kellen Biegel got into the act along with Sondra Tompkins, Kim Chatman, Brian Kraft, Val and Zane Henning, Ray Ward, Frank Gwartney, Anthony Martin, etc. ad nauseum. Nope. They didn’t work either.
Next, they really thought they had finally shut Sarah’s mouth when she resigned as Governor in a move that had to shock even the Obama mind-controlled bunch. Wrong again. She just changed the venue from the Alaska Governor’s Office to Facebook. From “death panels” to support of our troops in Afghanistan (and wherever else they may be) to support of a Conservative candidate against a liberal Republican who is likely to pull “the Specter shuffle,” Sarah Palin knows how to play the “gotcha” game.
Can you handle it, Obama? Need some new reading material? Try this! Even the British press knows you’re all talk and no substance. Since you won’t listen to the American people, maybe you’ll listen to someone from another country who almost speaks our language.
Finally, the shoe that never fit the other foot to begin with has been thrown into the dustbin, as our British friends would say. A couple of days ago I saw an interesting article in the Anchorage Daily News that brought a real smile to my face.
“City attorney seeks Begich e-mails,” read the headline from the article. Finally, someone is questioning the ethics of an Alaska politician other than Sarah Palin.
Before Mark Begich literally stole the Senate seat of incumbent Ted Stevens no thanks to a mishandled trial in Steven’s federal corruption case, he was mayor of Anchorage. Dennis Wheeler, Anchorage Municipal attorney, wants to see copies of emails sent to and from then-Mayor Mark Begich’s private email accounts during his last few months in office. The investigation centers on whether Begich withheld important financial information from the Anchorage Assembly last year.
Mr. Wheeler began his investigation after being asked by the Assembly to review the report of a private attorney, Joseph Levesque, regarding two labor contracts which were analyzed and approved by the Assembly late last year. These contracts called for pay increases for police officers and electrical workers at a time city revenue was down and being tightened even more by the nation’s financial collapse.
The e-mail from Sharon Weddleton who was at the time chief financial officer for the city was reportedly warning of potential multimillion-dollar budget shortfalls for FY2009.
Sit back and relax, Mr. Begich. The ride is just beginning. I’m sure if you need advice on how to handle the pressure of an investigation about your possible misconduct, Sarah Palin would be happy to help.

Bless you! You have great skill in gathering facts and putting them together in a logical manner.
The Begich fiasco is only beginning. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
We may need some popcorn before it is all over.
